A study about Baritsu, the name of the martial arts which does not exist in Japan, introducing the reference to the term in the Japanese newspaper in 1902.  
 「空家の冒険」出典の記述「バリツ」についての研究。日本に該当する武術が無く、掲載経緯についての考察と、著者が「神戸又新日報」明治35年5月5日（月）発行の一面記事に、柔術学校（英名バリツ・スクール）と明記の記述を発見したこと。

 「三人ガリデブ」の低い評価への慨嘆と日本語翻訳論、喜劇としての作品研究。オペラ的要素を読み取り、悲劇性と喜劇性との対比を試み、作品内の具体的な箇所を挙げて考察している。ホームズファンとして、この作品の楽しみ方を考察し教示している。

The writer points out the similarity in the process neurologists use for diagnosis with the method of Holmes’ detection, and that a number of neurological terms appear in the Canon.
 ホームズ生みの親ドイルについて。医者としての研究から、神経疾患に関わっていたとの指摘。ホームズの観察眼と論理的な推理が、神経内科医が診断に至る過程によく似ていること。ホームズ物語のなかに神経内科に関する用語が多数用いられていることの指摘。

 Oxford English Dictionary の記述に用例として掲載されている、ホームズ物語の言葉の考察。ＯＥＤの記述の検証と、掲載された引用文を元にホームズ物語の文学性を考察。合わせて、ホームズ物語発表当初のイギリス出版界における文学的評価も考察。

 「銀星号事件」に名のみ登場する実在の歴史的名馬、「アイソノミー号」についての研究。競走馬サラブレッドについての詳しい解説から、「アイソノミー号」の戦歴。更に後裔たちの活躍と、その血統が日本の競馬に与えた影響についての詳しい研究。

 Introduction of the life of Lafcadio Hearn (Koizumi Yakumo), a writer known best for his books about Japan, and the things he had in common with Conan Doyle and Sherlock Holmes.
 ラフカディオ・ハーン（小泉八雲）の日本での活動と、彼とは一見無関係とも思えるコナン・ドイルの人生や、一族、経歴などの具体的な比較によって、その驚くほどの共通点の指摘。そこから導かれる、ハーンとホームズとの共通点も同じく指摘されている。

 Review of the shot by Colonel Moran, how the position of the light in 221B would affect the targeted shadow and if the bullet really hit the bust as described in EMPT.
 モラン大佐の軍歴の紹介と、その腕前については伝聞しかないと指摘。ライヘンバッハでの失敗と、「空家の冒険」の記述から射撃の腕前は下手なのでは？と考察。狙撃結果について、部屋の図面などを使って具体的に論じている。
